Paralympics
The 2024 Paralympic Games are set to commence with the inauguration ceremony in the city of Paris on Wednesday. The following week and more will be featuring 22 sports disciplines such as athletics, judo, swimming, rowing and wheelchair rugby among others. Nine out of these sports will include Irish participants, with Ireland’s team consisting of a total of 35 athletes. The Games can be watched from Aug 28th to Sep 8th on channels RTÉ & Channel 4.

Golf
The Women’s Irish Open is scheduled to happen this week at Carton House. Ireland’s Olympian Leona Maguire – the first Irish victor on the Ladies European Tour – will be part of the competition at the Co Kildare venue. Currently, the title is held by Denmark’s Smilla Tarning Sønderby. The event will be broadcasted on Sky Sports and RTÉ from Thursday to Sunday.

Football
As the new season of the Scottish Premiership is in its early days, this weekend’s Old Firm encounter is eagerly awaited, holding weight of six points. Rangers, visiting Celtic Park this weekend, are hoping not only to start their season on a good note but to also make a serious dent in Celtic’s bid for a fourth successive title. Sky Sports will be telecasting the faceoff on Sunday.

This Week’s Highlights
On Monday (26th Aug), you can tune in for tennis US Open matches on Sky Sports+, or catch the Serie A clash – Hellas Verona v Juventus on TNT Sports 1. Moreover, you can see Championship highlights on TG4 channel or watch soccer match between Villarreal and Celta de Vigo on Premier Sports 1.

Tuesday (27th Aug) comes packed with excitement as you can follow Stage 10 Vuelta a España cycling event on Eurosport 1 or again enjoy tennis US Open on Sky Sports+. Soccer lovers have an array of matches to choose from on Premier Sports 1 and Sky Sports+ including La Liga faceoffs and League Cup matches. A UEFA Champions League play-off game (Salzburg (2) v Dynamo Kyiv (0)) will also be covered on TNT Sports 1.

The schedule for sporting events is as follows:

The UEFA Champions League play-offs see Sparta Prague meeting Malmö on TNT Sports 2 at 8pm. Meanwhile, from 9.50pm until 1am, tune into the Peru World U20 Championships on the BBC Red Button.

On Wednesday, 28th August, cycling fans can enjoy the 11th stage of the Vuelta a España on Eurosport 1, broadcasting from 1.30pm – 5pm. Sky Sports+ will televise the US Open tennis tournament from 3.30pm till 5 am.

At 5pm, tune into Premier Sports 2 for the German Cup, with Carl Zeiss Jena taking on Bayer Leverkusen. TNT Sports 1 will broadcast more UEFA Champions League play-off games, starting with Qarabağ versus Dinamo Zagreb at 5.45pm, followed by Slavia Prague against Lille at 8pm. At 6pm, there is La Liga action with Athletic Club versus Valencia on Premier Sports 1, before At Madrid take on Espanyol at 8.30pm.

RTÉ 2 and Channel 4 will both cover the Paris Paralympics Opening Ceremony, from 6.30pm till late. Athletics fans can catch more action from the Peru World U20 Championships on the BBC Red Button from 6.45pm until 1am. In football, the League Cup games include Nottingham Forest’s clash with Newcastle on Sky Sports Football at 7.30pm and West Ham’s fixture against Bournemouth on Sky Sports+ at 7.45pm.

More UEFA Champions League play-off games include Red Star Belgrade facing Bodø/Glimt on TNT Sports 2 at 8pm, and Slovan Bratislava up against Midtjylland on TNT Sports 3 at the same time. La Liga continues on Premier Sports 2 with Real Sociedad taking on Deportivo Alavés at 8.30pm. Lastly, Sky Sports Golf will air the Creator Classic from 9pm till midnight. Action continues on Thursday, 29th August.

Sky Sports Cricket will feature the 2nd Test, D1 between England and Sri Lanka, starting from 10am. Sky Sports Golf will showcase the British Masters from 12.30pm to 6pm.

Barcelona Louis Vuitton Cup will be on TNT Sports 1, from 1pm to 3.30pm. Stage 12 Vuelta a España of the cycling event will be on Eurosport 1 from 1.30pm to 5pm. Sky Sports+ will display the US Open Tennis from 3.30pm to 5am. The Women’s Irish Open will show on Sky Sports+ from 4pm. BBC Red Button will feature the Peru World U20 Championships from 5.45pm to 1am. Sky Sports Golf will broadcast the Tour Championship from 6pm to 11pm. On Premier Sports 1, La Liga Soccer with Girona versus Osasuna at 6pm and Las Palmas versus Real Madrid at 8.30pm

For the upcoming action on Friday August 30th, TNT Sports 4 will broadcast the 2nd Test, D1 between Pakistan and Bangladesh from 5.30am. Sky Sports Cricket will cover 2nd Test, D2 of England versus Sri Lanka from 10.15am. Eurosport 2 will show the Saudi Masters Snooker from 11am to 3pm, and again from 5pm to 9pm. Practice Italian Grand Prix will air on Sky Sports F1 from noon. The British Masters Golf rolls over on Sky Sports Golf from 12.30pm to 6pm, and BBC Red Button continues to air the Peru World U20 Championships from 12.50pm to 5pm. The final event of the day, Barcelona Louis Vuitton Cup, will be shown on TNT Sports 3 from 1pm to 3.30pm.

The following are the upcoming matches and games on various sports channels, altered in words and structure.

Eurosport 1 will be featuring Vuelta a España’s Stage 13 cycling race from 1.30pm to 5pm. Over on Sky Sports Mix, the Curtis Cup golf tournament will be on from 1pm to 6.30pm. Meanwhile, the US Open tennis tournament can be watched on Sky Sports+, running from 3.30pm until 5am. Furthermore, the Women’s Irish Open Golf will kick off on Sky Sports+ from 4pm, while the Tour Championship will be broadcasted on Sky Sports Golf, from 6pm to 11pm.

As for athletics, BBC 2 & Virgin Media Two will be spotlighting the Rome Golden Gala Pietro Mennea from 7pm to 9pm. Sky Sports Mix will cover a Bundesliga soccer game between U Berlin and St Pauli at 7.30pm. A match from the Scottish Women’s PL featuring Celtic against Hibernian will be aired on BBC Alba at 7.35pm.

Both games of Rugby League Super League, Hull KR vs Salford RD and Leigh vs Warrington, will start at 8pm on Sky Sports Action and Sky Sports+ respectively. Additionally, the Championship football match between Luton and QPR can be watched on Sky Sports Football, also at 8pm.

As for Saturday (31st August), the Korea Open Semi-finals in badminton will be aired from 3am to 11.30am on TNT Sports 3. TNT Sports 4 will cover the 2nd D2 Test cricket match featuring Pakistan and Bangladesh from 5.30am.

RTÉ 2 and Channel 4 will provide extensive coverage of the Paralympics throughout the day, and a 2nd D3 Test between England and Sri Lanka will be broadcasted on Sky Sports Cricket starting at 10.15am.

Sky Sports Golf will air the British Masters from 12.30pm to 5.30pm whilst Premier League soccer game, Arsenal vs Brighton, will be on TNT Sports 1 at 12.30pm. Championship football matches of Burnley vs Blackburn and Cardiff City vs Middlesbrough will also be broadcasted on Sky Sports Football and Sky Sports+ at 12.30pm respectively.

From 1pm-3.30pm, TNT Sports 3 is showing sailing at the Barcelona Louis Vuitton Cup. Simultaneously, UTV is broadcasting racing from Sandown Park, Newmarket & Beverley from 1pm-4pm. Moreover, Sky Sports Mix is featuring golf at the Curtis Cup, lasting from 1pm-6.30pm.

Eurosport 1 will cover the 14th Stage of the Vuelta a España cycling race from 1.30pm-5pm. Concurrently, RTÉ One and Sky Sports+ will present coverage on the Women’s Irish Open in golf from 2pm-5.10pm.

TG4 will commence the Women’s Interpros in rugby at 2.30pm with the third-place playoff, followed by the final in Belfast at 4.45pm. In addition, Premier Sports is streaming the Premier League soccer match between Leicester City and Aston Villa at 3pm, while Sky Sports Plus will feature the Super League rugby league match between Hull FC and Castleford Tigers.

There’s also the US Open tennis matches on Sky Sports+ from 3.30pm-5am, and rugby on Sky Sports Action, with the Rugby Championship game between South Africa and New Zealand at 4pm.

Later in the evening, starting from 5pm, Eurosport 2 will air the Saudi Masters snooker. Sky Sports Golf will show the Tour Championship, running 5.30pm-midnight. Sky Sports Football will broadcast the Bundesliga soccer match, featuring Bayer Leverkusen playing against Leipzig at 5.30pm.

Additionally, the Premier League soccer game between West Ham and Man City will start on Sky Sports Premier League at 5.30pm. Premier Sports 1 will showcase two soccer games; Ross Co against Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership at 5.45pm, and the La Liga match between Athletic Club and Atletico Madrid at 6pm.

TG4 will show the Women’s Premier League soccer match Bohemian versus Shelbourne at 7.35pm. The Italian Serie A match Lazio against Milan will be aired on TNT Sports 1 at 7.45pm. Following this, Sky Sports Action will broadcast more Rugby League Super League action as the Catalans Dragons compete against Wigan at 8pm.

Lastly, Premier Sports 1 will wrap up the day’s events with the La Liga soccer match Leganés versus Mallorca at 8.30pm.

The Match of the Day football match will be broadcasted on BBC 1 from 10:20pm to 11:45pm. The Rugby Championship match between Argentina and Australia airs at 11pm on Sky Sports Action. On Sunday, September 1st, the Korea Open Finals in badminton will be shown on TNT Sports 4 starting at 3am until 8am.
