Young man loses life in Sligo traffic accident

A man in his 20s tragically lost his life in a road incident in Co Sligo on early Saturday morning. The fatal single-car crash occurred on the R294 at Drimina, Tubbercurry, around 3:45am. Post-crash, the driver was pronounced dead, sustaining deadly injuries during the collision.

Currently, the road remains closed as Garda forensic collision experts continue to study the scene. Local traffic has been diverted due to the ongoing investigation.

A representative for the Garda informed the public that the local coroner has been informed about the incident and that plans are underway for a post-mortem examination.

The Garda spokesperson requested anyone who may have witnessed the event to step forward, stating, “Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.”
