In the early hours of Sunday in north Dublin, a taxi driver was subjected to a robbery at knifepoint. Riding in his taxi was a man in his twenties who threatened him with a blade in Poppintree. Post the incident, the offender absconded on foot, taking a sum of money with him. Thankfully, the taxi driver, a man in his forties, wasn’t physically injured.
Officers from Ballymun garda and associates from the Armed Support Unit (ASU) responded promptly to the report, making an arrest later at a Ballymun residence. The young suspect is presently in custody under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act. A probe into the incident is in progress as the investigation continues.
