Yellow Rain Warning for Ireland

Met Éireann cautions inhabitants in southeast Ireland to brace themselves for torrential rainfall and thunderstorms in effect till Tuesday evening. Counties including Carlow, Wexford, and Wicklow are under a yellow alert from 6pm to midnight. Threats include intense rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, localized flooding, perilous commuting conditions, and potential interruptions. Rainfall is expected to spread towards the north, majorly in the regions of Munster and south Leinster.

Met Éireann’s forecaster, Joanna Donnelly, discussed the current spring tides on Tuesday evening. She highlighted that these, along with onshore winds, could lead to overtopping in coastal regions. Heavy rain and possibly thunder from the south could cause disruptions, primarily in southeastern areas affected by the alert till midnight. Despite the warning being area-specific, she says the rain is, in fact, widespread across the country.

The forecast for Wednesday and Thursday predicts intermittent sunny spells and rainfall, with a shift back to unrelenting rain expected on Friday.
