“Yellow Rain Warning for Four Counties Tonight”

A rain alert of Status Yellow is expected to become active from 8pm on Friday for the counties of Dublin, Louth, Meath and Wicklow. Met Éireann has warned that the rainfall could be intense at intervals, accompanied by chances of thunderstorms, and the potential repercussions include localised flooding. It cautioned those involved in outdoor activities about potential “challenging travel situations” tonight. The weather warning will be in place in these four counties until 6am on Saturday.

In the ensuing days, unsettled weather is anticipated with intermittent rain or showers. Despite being cool for the season during the weekend, some parts are likely to experience a slight improvement in temperatures next week.

Saturday’s forecast includes bouts of sunshine with sporadic showers in the north and west, which are set to spread to other regions by the afternoon and evening. Some areas are likely to experience heavy rainfall, with highest temperatures ranging from 13 to 17 degrees.

Saturday night will intersperse clear periods with random showers. With a gentle breeze from the west, the lowest temperatures will likely fall between 7 to 9 degrees.

Sunday will alternate between sunshine and showers, with the potential for heavy or possibly thundery downpours in the afternoon and evening. Temperatures will peak between 14 to 17 degrees in a light breeze that varies between west to northwest.

On Sunday night, showers will diminish, with the lowest temperatures resting between 7 to 10 degrees under a light northwest or varying breeze.

Monday is anticipated to begin with a sunny start. As the day progresses, the chance of showers increases, which might turn heavy later and peak temperatures are expected to range between 16 to 19 degrees.

Most areas will be dry early in the night, with some clear spells, while showers or lengthy spells of rainfall are expected to hit the south overnight with lowest temperatures between 8 to 12 degrees.

Tuesday’s forecast predicts a dry morning with sunlight predominantly over parts of Connacht and Ulster. However, showers predicted in the southern and southeastern parts of the country will spread further north through Leinster during the afternoon, with temperatures reaching their peak between 15 to 19 degrees.

On Wednesday, expect sunny spells and scattered showers, accompanied by a peak temperature range of 17 to 21 degrees in a light or moderate breeze that could be from northeast or vary throughout the day.
