In this morning’s test session at Portimao hindered by cold temperatures and rain, only a hand full of riders decided to brave the track, with Carlos Checa making it to the top of the chart, in an almost useless session.
Eugene Laverty and his Yamaha were the first to venture out and the only rider to put in 20 laps, while the others averaged between 7 and 15 laps in the final half hour of the session.
James Toseland, Ayrton Badovini, Michel Fabrizio, Marco Melandri and Maxime Berger were the only other riders to risk the track as Aprilia, Kawasaki, Liberty Ducati and Castrol Honda all deciding to sit out the session, with Jonathan Rea spending the time in the Clinica Mobile getting laser therapy.
Leon Camier and Max Biaggi will not be taking part in the afternoon session, as they are on their way to Montecarlo with a private jet to take part in Piaggio’s annual dealers meeeting.
