WSBK Monza: Max Biaggi decimates the Superpole with lap record

Max Biaggi and his Aprilia ruled this afternoon’s Superpole session at Monza.
Biaggi blazed through the Italian track like the Emperor Nero setting Rome on fire with a record breaking lap of 1′41.
745 that annihilated the rest of the field in SP3.
Eugene Laverty on his Yamaha R1 was second and adrift 0.

648s and Castrol Honda’s Jonathan Rea took third while Troy Corser in fourth closed out the front row.
Marco Melandri will open the second row with Leon Haslam on the other BMW S1000RR right beside him.
Michel Fabrizio qualified seventh and was a massive 1.
209s from Biaggi’s pole setting record and Noriyuki Haga on the Pata Aprilia was eighth.
Ayrton Badovini who has been the surprise this weekend qualified only ninth and Biaggi’s team mate Leon Camier rounded out the top ten.
Points leader Carlos Checa will have to ride in defence mode in tomorrow’s races, his Ducati twin is no match for any of the four cylinders at the Temple of Speed, the Spaniard will take off in 11th on the grid.

Kawasaki’s Joan Lascorz and Tom Sykes were 13th and 14th on the grid respectively, evidently the test that Sykes had in Japan has not paid off in qualifying results.
