Woman Charged for Dublin Road Death

A female suspect has been taken into custody and subsequently charged in relation to the fatal attack on a gentleman, who was discovered severely wounded on a northern Dublin roadway earlier this month. Set to face the Criminal Courts of Justice on Wednesday, the woman, aged in her 40s, is presently embroiled in this case. James “Shey” Ryan was discovered in close proximity to his Balbriggan residence in Dublin during the wee hours of Saturday, August 10th. Initially suspected to be a victim of a mishap or fall, he was promptly rushed to Beaumont Hospital.

However, hospital staff soon grew apprehensive, suspecting an assault might have been the cause of his injuries and they notified the police. Tragically, Ryan succumbed to his injuries the following day, Sunday, August 11th. An inquiry was initiated by the Gardaí who commissioned a post-mortem by the Office of State Pathologist. It was revealed that he had sustained his wounds during an attack. Mr. Ryan’s injuries were determined to be numerous and violent, though there was no indication that a weapon had been involved.

The Gardaí, however, are withholding the post-mortem results due to operational considerations. Pursuant to this, homicide detectives have commenced their interrogations of potential witnesses. A suspect, a woman in her 40s, was apprehended on Tuesday by the Gardaí in the Balbriggan region, on grounds of suspicion related to this murder. Detained under the jurisdiction of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, she was interviewed at a North Dublin Garda station. Come Wednesday morning, charges were formally levelled against her. Investigations are still underway.
