A female traveller in her thirties, originating from Canada, was apprehended in Ireland carrying a suitcase loaded with cannabis worth €300,000. The seizure, which took place on a Tuesday, was made by Revenue officers and was a result of their ‘risk profiling’ approach for passengers, aided by their detection dog, Maggie. The authorities reported that the total weight of seized herbal cannabis was approximately 15kg. Following her disembarkation from a flight from Toronto, the woman was detained by An Garda Síochána according to Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act. The investigation concerning this case is still ongoing.
