Dear Editor,
I found Bairbre O’Hogan’s letter addressing the delayed acknowledgment of author Winifred M Letts intriguing (published on March 11th). Besides being an accomplished writer, her poetry was equally commendable, especially her sonnets which aren’t hard to discover.
I recall an instance of acquiring her poem, ‘The Hurley Player’, which now resides in a frame adorning the wall next to me.
My sporting interest has transitioned from hurling to squash. Regardless of my tournament outcomes — winning or losing, I find myself reciting this beautiful piece by Letts.
Yours sincerely,
