West Dublin Driver Hijacked

Authorities in west Dublin are appealing for eyewitnesses following a carjacking incident which transpired during the early morning hours of Friday. According to reports, a gentleman was halted in his vehicle at traffic signals in Clondalkin around 2.45am when another man, armed with a knife, accosted him.

The perpetrator then entered the victim’s car and coerced the man into driving to a different place. At this point, the car’s proprietor managed to flee and promptly informed the authorities.

Following the incident, officers located the abandoned vehicle and apprehended a suspect in his 30s in the vicinity. The individual is currently being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a local west Dublin police station.

Continuing their investigations, the authorities are appealing to anyone who may have been around the Belgard Road or the Clondalkin area between 2am and 3am on Friday morning and could have witnessed the carjacking. They are also requesting any travellers, pedestrians, or others who may possess relevant footage (including dashcam video), to come forward.
