“Week Ahead: Showers and Low Temperatures”

The Met Éireann forecasts that the weather for the forthcoming week will be variable, characterised by showers and cool temperatures. From today, Monday is predicted to be rainy with escalating winds from the south and southeast, bringing along gusts and gales – particularly along the south and east coasts. This may result in some heavy thundery downpours, potentially leading to coastal flooding in the south and eastern regions.

Tuesday will bring a gusty day with sun interspersed with irregular showers, with drier conditions anticipated for the southeast. Tuesday evening will start with clear spells and infrequent showers mainly for areas along the Atlantic coast, with cloudiness increasing from the west as dawn approaches, followed by rain in the northwest. The night will see temperatures ranging from 9 to 13 degrees with light to moderate winds from the west or southwest.

The weather on Wednesday will show signs of increase in cloud cover followed by episodes of rain and drizzly conditions becoming more frequent, as predicted by Met Éireann. Throughout the day, southerly winds are expected to rise, evolving into breezy or windy atmosphere towards the evening, increasing to strong winds particularly along the Atlantic coasts.

At nighttime, the country is set to experience consistent heavy rainfall, increasing the possibility of spot flooding accompanied by fresh to strong and gusty southerly winds.

By Thursday morning, the last of the strong winds and rainfall are anticipated to vacate the east of the country, leading to drier conditions with bursts of sunshine and sporadic showers. As evening approaches, rainy conditions may develop again along the Atlantic coastal areas. The day will see the highest temperatures hovering between 16 to 20 degrees, with predominantly moderate winds from the west or southwest.

Friday’s weather still poses some uncertainty, potentially starting off with heavy rainfall, which is likely to give way to blustery showers later in the day. The maximum temperatures are forecast to range from 14 to 18 degrees.

The weather throughout the weekend is projected to remain variable as indicated earlier.
