“Week Ahead: Showers and Low Temperatures”

Met Éireann predicts a week of shaky weather ahead, with rain and low temperatures expected. Starting off with Monday’s wet and windy conditions, the west’s rain is anticipated to become prevalent this morning. Such conditions will be coupled with intensified south to southeast winds, which at times may turn fresh to strong and gusty, even leading to the development of gales along the south and east coasts. Heavy or thundery falls, along with some coastal flooding predominantly in the south and east, might also occur.

Tuesday is anticipated to be a breezy day featuring spells of sunshine and sporadic showers, with the southeast staying the driest. The night of Tuesday should stay predominantly dry, featuring clear spells and isolated showers primarily around the Atlantic coast. However, cloudiness from the west will increase towards dawn, leading to the development of rain in the northwest. The night’s minimum temperature readings are set to be between 9 and 13 degrees in light to moderate west or southwest winds.

The forecast for Wednesday is cloudiness with intermittent rain becoming prevalent during the morning. As the day progresses, southerly winds are expected to intensify, making the evening windy. The conditions will only worsen at night, though, with “wet and windy” weather accompanied by more persistent and heavier rain across the country. Met Éireann warns of the possibility of spot flooding, accompanied by gusty, fresh to strong southerly winds.

On Thursday, the morning will see a withdrawal of overnight rain and strong winds from the country’s east, leading to predominantly dry conditions and sunny spells alongside scattered showers. The day will end with rain showers reaching the Atlantic coastal areas. The day’s highest temperatures are likely to fall between 16 and 20 degrees amidst mostly moderate west or southwest winds.

As for Friday, there is some ambiguity, but the day might start with heavy rainfall which will then clear up leaving behind windy showers. The maximum temperatures on this day are anticipated to fall between 14 and 18 degrees. The outlook for the weekend remains undetermined, with an emphasis on potentially “unsettled conditions”.
