The forthcoming days are forecast to be hit with a myriad of weather conditions, including torrential rain, misty conditions, minor flooding, a chance of thunderstorms, and drizzle, says Met Éireann. A rise in temperature and some sunny spells can only be anticipated no sooner than Thursday when a low pressure weather system is expected to pass over Ireland.
Aoife Keeley, a meteorologist at Met Éireann, notes such weather variations to the presence of a presently incoming low pressure system across the country. This system, Ms Keeley adds, is responsible for the prevailing rain, overcast skies, and dip in temperature.
Thursday will likely be the first day to witness some sunshine due to the predicted advent of a high pressure system causing a relative increase in warmth during the end of the work week.
Sunday’s detailed national forecast stated, “the rains in north Leinster and Ulster will likely retreat to north Ulster come noon”. The same forecast also warns of potential heavy afternoon showers with risks of lightning strikes and localised flooding particularly over Leinster area. Barring any drastic change, the mercury level is set to hover between 13 to 16 degrees, a tad on the lower side for this time in the year.
The following Monday morning is expected to be predominantly overcast with intermittent drizzle and mist. However, the afternoon brings hope of some sunshine interspersed with bouts of scattered showers that should be accompanied by temperatures in the region of 14 to 17 degrees, along with a moderate southwesternly wind.
As we enter Monday evening, expect the weather to be volatile, with showers scattered throughout. Early Tuesday, Ulster is expected to experience bouts of rain and drizzle, but the outlook brightens as the day progresses with the possibility of sun and sporadic showers.
Met Éireann warns of the possibility of some heavy or potentially thunderous showers primarily in the northeastern regions, with the highs expected to range from 16 to 19 degrees. The weather on Wednesday is expected to be slightly grimy with scattered showers in the morning, though long spells of sunshine are likely as we head into the afternoon.
According to the weather prediction, Thursday is set to be a delightful day with ample dry weather, countering only scant fleeting showers. The most sunshine is to be enjoyed in the east and south parts of the country. We can anticipate top temperatures ranging from 15 to 18 degrees, complemented by a moderate breeze from the north. As of now, Friday also suggests a predominantly dry day pattern, punctuated by periods of sunshine and occasional showers. The high temperature is predicted to be between 14 and 17 degrees with a moderate wind blowing from the northwest.
