Vodafone, Google Expand AI Partnership

On Tuesday, Vodafone, the mobile network giant, announced the strengthening of its strategic alliance with Google, an Alphabet subsidiary, through a $1 billion plus, decade-long contract that will introduce the American tech behemoth’s cutting-edge, AI-powered devices to consumers in Europe and Africa.

Vodafone plans to broaden the reach of Google’s Pixel devices, energised by artificial intelligence, using its 5G network across Europe, while continuing to endorse the Android ecosystem.

It’s an aggressive competitive landscape, where global tech firms vie for customers ready to switch their phones for the latest AI capabilities. Tech frontrunners like Apple, Google, and Samsung are enticing users with an impressive array of AI-fuelled visual, text, and audio functions.

By 2025, Vodafone promises to provide Google One AI Premium subscription plans, incorporating Gemini Advanced, a leading AI software, to selected markets.

In addition, Google Cloud’s business-oriented AI platform will be utilised by Vodafone as part of this enriched collaboration.

Google is also contending in the AI scene with firms like OpenAI, financially supported by industry titans like Microsoft and NVIDIA, as noted by Reuters.
