I recently received a quote of €1,400 to mend the fractured plastic lens on my car’s headlamp. To provide some perspective, this amount is equivalent to 100 hours of labour at the minimum wage, or alternatively, it equates to the cost of filling up 20 tanks with diesel. This has helped me grasp the eager stance of the German automobile industry to impose taxes on the importation of more reasonably priced Chinese vehicles and components.
