Valentine’s Day is coming up. As an opportunity to express more attention to your partner, it is lately becoming a tool of mass consumerism, to enrich large companies.
In fact, we should show love to our partner every day throughout the year, and not only on February 14. However, if you are looking for an idea to amaze your beloved, we suggest some eco-sustainable ideas. So you can celebrate without unnecessary waste, respecting the environment and surprising the other with original gifts.
Organic Homemade Chocolate
Instead of buying the classic chocolate, you could try doing it with your hands. It’s not as hard as you might think. You will first have to buy organic chocolate (dark or milk chocolate, depending on the taste you prefer) from the fair trade market. Now you can easily find it on the shelves of large supermarkets at ridiculously low prices.
Then you’ll need some nice heart-shaped moulds (the ones you use to make ice will be perfect) and in a short time your chocolates will be ready. How? Melt the chocolate in a bain-marie and add what you like best: chopped almonds, a hazelnut, jam, dried dried fruit. Then you just have to pour everything into ice moulds and let them cool.
Save the Flowers
Even when it comes to flowers, you can opt for more sustainable choices. Roses are beautiful, but cutting them off is a real shame. Over traditional bouquets of flowers, it’s better to prefer a potted plant. Not only will it last longer, but you and your partner can care for it together and watch it grow with your love. An original idea could be to “adopt” a tree and plant it in the garden, so that you can share its fruits in the future.
DIY Gift for Valentine’s Day
It’s easy to shop around and buy a wallet, a shirt or something ready to go. Making something with your own hands expresses much more commitment, care and attention to your loved one.
Let your imagination run wild. Think about how to impress your partner. Any ideas? Fabric flowers, romantic cards, handmade scarves and sweaters. Search on the web: there are many tutorials and ideas to create unique and romantic gifts with creative recycling.
A Love Letter for Valentine’s Day
By now, socials dominate couple communication. On Valentine‘s Day, let’s set aside chats and posts with aphorisms to express our feelings. For once, try to express what you feel for your partner with the old methods, which have never failed. A beautiful love letter, for example, today could turn out to be an original and unexpected thought. Obviously written on recycled paper! Saying “I love you” with “pen and paper” will have a different taste.
