“Urgent Measures Sought for Dublin Housing Crisis”

The Government is facing pressure to implement urgent actions to mitigate the housing crisis. Over the weekend, demonstrators rallied under the Housing Fight Back banner in front of the Department of Housing located at Custom House in Dublin. This reaction followed a report issued the previous week, which scrutinised the government’s approach to housing critically.

In this Housing Commission Report, 83 key suggestions were defined, spotlighting a significant worry related to Ireland’s housing shortage urging for a drastic response coupled with a comprehensive boost in provision. Richard Boyd-Barrett, a representative from the People Before Profit party, excoriated the Government’s housing strategy, terming it a “catastrophe”.

Boyd-Barrett further commented that the contents of the Housing Commission report reaffirmed the known concerns, emphasising that government actions had led to a widespread housing disarray nationwide and added to the hardships faced by countless adults, families, and young ones. As such, he urged the Government to initiate emergency responses to resolve the housing dilemma.
