“Urban congestion during the weekend”

Dear Sir,

Saturday’s widespread traffic disturbance in Dublin, including on the M50, served as a stark testament to the inadequate coordination of our public authorities. Current licensing procedures for public gatherings ought to include a threshold beyond which permits should be rejected. It should never be the case that copious license requests are approved at the cost of cancelling police leave.

Moreover, there’s evidently an absence of suitable transport facilities to manage multiple events over the course of a single weekend. It’s high time we cease misleading ourselves, as well as those who visit our city.

Yours Sincerely,
David Loughlin,
Rathmines,
Dublin 6.
