“Ukraine Strikes Russian Submarine, Airfield”

In recent developments, Ukrainian forces have successfully hit a Russian submarine and targeted a Russian airfield, escalating a series of far-reaching assaults on Russian objectives, according to officials. However, Russia counters by saying a residential complex was struck by Ukrainian drones, resulting in one fatality.

This increase in attacks, which began in July, correlates with Ukraine’s push on its allies to green-light the use of extensive-range weaponry to target Russian grounds. The United States and other Western allies have been hesitant to do so due to concerns of potential escalation from Russia’s side.

A statement released by the General Staff detailed the takedown of a Kilo-class submarine and an S-400 anti-aircraft missile complex in Russia’s Crimean Peninsula, under Moscow control. The anti-aircraft set-up was installed to guard the Kerch Strait Bridge, a pivotal logistics and transportation node for the Russian forces.

Furthermore, the announcement stated that the navy and missile forces managed to incapacitate four Triumph air defence system launchers. At the Sevastopol port, the attack on Russia’s Black Sea fleet’s submarine, the Rostov-on-Don, resulted in it sinking.

The Morozovsk airfield in the Rostov region was another target for Ukrainian forces, who set out an extensive drone attack on Russia. The warehouses storing guided aerial bombs took significant hits. The Security Service of Ukraine, the Main Directorate of Intelligence, and the Defence Ministry conducted this operation, as per the statement.

Vyacheslav Gladkov, governor of Belgorod, reported early Sunday that a female civilian was killed due to a Ukrainian drone assault on a residential building in Shebekino. Additional damage to various buildings was caused by Ukrainian drones. According to Gladkov, from Saturday, Ukrainian shelling and numerous drone attacks have resulted in eight civilian injuries in the region.

Over the past month, Russia has witnessed an escalated frequency of Ukrainian drone assaults and far-reaching strikes, with military infrastructure such as airfields and oil depots being primary targets. Analysts suggest such a heightened level of aggression is necessary for Ukraine to incapacitate Russian abilities.
