“Ukraine Downs Five Russian Drones Overnight”

The Ukraine Air Force declared on Friday that they successfully downed all five drones deployed by Russia during a nocturnal assault. This was disclosed through a statement on the Telegram messaging platform, where it was also mentioned that Russian forces employed three Iskander-M ballistic missiles during the strike. The drones utilised by Russia for the assault included three of the Shahed-type and two of an unspecified type. It was previously reported by Reuters that Russia has resorted to the use of inexpensively manufactured drones in some of its offensives on Ukraine, with the aim to detect air defences and function as diversions. Following the strike, the governors of Kyiv and Kirovohrad provinces reported no damages or casualties. Kyiv’s air defence was active throughout the night, with no damages reported by city officials. On the previous day, the military had activated the air alert four times, warning residents about potential attacks. It was stated on Friday that, since the comprehensive invasion began, Kyiv has received over 1,200 such alerts. – Reuters
