The Ukrainian air force reported on Sunday that they had successfully neutralised 35 out of 39 assault drones launched by Russia during the night, predominantly over the east and southern parts of the country. The Air Force did not comment on any potential damage nor disclosed the fate of the four S-300 anti-aircraft missiles that Russia had launched.
In other news, Pope Francis, in a recent interview on Swiss channel RSI, expressed that in face of imminent defeat, Ukraine must display bravery and enter negotiations with Russia to bring an end to the ongoing conflict. He further added that the country should have no hesitation in opening peace talks with its Russian counterparts, with assistance from global powers.
He stated, “The strongest are those who assess the situation, empathise with the people, have the fortitude of a white flag and are willing to negotiate.” The interview was recorded last month and partially broadcasted on Saturday.
Meanwhile, a woman in the village of Kulbaki, located in Kursk, tragically lost her life due to Ukrainian artillery fire, as reported by the governor of the Russian region bordering Ukraine on Sunday. The lady’s residence was set ablaze leading to her unfortunate demise while her husband sustained severe burn injuries.
Governor Roman Starovoit revealed these details via the Telegram messaging app. Reuters, however, has not been able to independently confirm these reports.
