“Two Yellow Warnings for Heavy Rain”

As the recent sunny, warm weather comes to an end, people should anticipate a switch to chiller temperatures and heavier rainfall in some regions across the nation. Currently, two yellow weather warnings have been issued, alerting people to potential heavy rainfall which might cause localised flooding, hinder travel and reduce visibility.

The initial warning applies to Cork, Kerry, and Waterford, lasting until 1pm on Monday. The UK Met Office issued the second notification, which covers Antrim, Armagh, Down, Tyrone, and Derry, valid until 6am on Tuesday.

According to Met Éireann, the rain will start spreading north on Monday morning, with heavy downpours forecasted in certain areas. The weather will shift to sun and showers in the southwest by early afternoon, gradually spreading to almost all regions, except Ulster. Nonetheless, extreme showers are expected.

The weather will be colder compared to recent days with maximum temperatures ranging from 13-17 degrees. During the night, there will be some clear periods and sporadic rain, particularly across the north initially, and later across southern regions.

On Tuesday, the forecast predicts a predominantly cloudy day with sporadic spells of rain and drizzle which will become more intense in the afternoon. Mild sunny spells can also be anticipated in some places, with highest temperatures ranging between 14-19 degrees.

Looking to the future, most days will be characterised by sporadic showers and gentle winds, with some sunlit, warm spots. On Wednesday, the Southwest will experience the most showers, while the North and Northeast are expected to remain dry. There will be areas of mist and fog in the mostly clear overnight setting with overall calm conditions.

Thursday too will feature both sun and showers, but some will be more intense. The temperatures will reach 18-22 degrees, making it a warmer day. Friday will see a decrease in temperatures, with 13-18 degrees expected amidst moderate northwest winds. Besides scattered showers, some regions will again enjoy a fully dry day.
