In a joint operation by Revenue and the Gardaí, two individuals have been taken into custody after cannabis worth €1.25 million was confiscated in Athy, Co Kildare on Thursday. In a subsequent search, an additional €12,000 of a substance believed to be cocaine was discovered.
The detainees, two males in their twenties and thirties, are being held at a Garda station in Co Kildare as per the stipulations in Section 2 of the 1996 Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act. Further investigations into the case are currently being conducted.
