Trump Fear Silences US Billionaires

Renowned investor Warren Buffett, known for supporting Barack Obama in his 2008 and 2012 runs, as well as backing Hillary Clinton in 2016, is choosing not to publicly align with any political candidates in the forthcoming 2024 elections. This careful stance is shared by another billionaire and seasoned Democrat, Jamie Dimon of JPMorgan. Despite previously criticising Donald Trump and privately showing support for Kamala Harris, as revealed by the New York Times, Dimon has been keeping his political views under wraps.

Dimon’s past reservations about Trump’s denial of the 2020 election results, labelled by him as nearly disqualifying, are clear, but he’s not flaunting his opinions as he usually would.

Similarly, the philanthropist Bill Gates, despite a significant donation of $50 million to Kamala Harris’s campaign, hasn’t made a public endorsement. General opinion suggests that this uncharacteristically silent behaviour from the corporate giants might be linked to concerns about potential retaliation from Trump should he secure a victory – a risk even the most influential names seem hesitant to take. Thus, keeping quiet may be the most prudent strategy for America’s cautious corporate leaders.
