On a Saturday evening, Donald Trump, the former president and Republican presidential candidate, was addressing a political gathering when an assassination attempt was made on him. Through a post on social media, Mr Trump revealed that despite being hit by a bullet that penetrated the upper area of his right ear, he was unharmed. Secret service officers promptly ushered him away from the stage, with his ear bleeding, during the event hosted in Butler city, Pennsylvania.
Tragically, the shooting resulted in the death of one spectator and severe injuries to two others.
The assailant has been identified by the FBI as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, hailing from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania.
