Three times Superbike World Champion, the now retired Troy Bayliss, can’t sit still and enjoy basking in the sun of Australia’s Gold Coast and taking his kids to school, so besides being Ducati’s image man and help test their superbikes (he’ll be continuing, even if Ducati no longer has a factory team in WSBK), he’s also become Sidi’s new spokesperson and will endorse both the motorcycling and cycling sectors of the brand.
“After motorcycles, cycling is my greatest passion,” explains Bayliss.
“I used to race bikes at a good level in the junior field.
I’d like to thank the Signori family, who’ve always been quite fond of me, and who have constantly, passionately supported me when I raced on motorcycles.
There’s a relationship between us based on friendship and mutual esteem that goes beyond work.
With both the Sidi Vortice boots I use on the motorcycle and the Ergo 2 CarbonLite and Genius 6.
6 Carbon Liteshoes I’ve tried on my bike, I’ve come to appreciate some common factors: the cutting edge technology applied to the products, the quality of the material that goes into making them, and the passion of the people who produce them.
”Bayliss is also a bike cycling nut (he really should hook up with Ben Spies and Ben Bostrom, another two riders who love to cycle, with Bostrom recently beating Lance Armstrong in the Mellow Johnny’s 6-Hour Mountain Bike Race) “I love bike riding” – says Bayliss.
“Cycling is an extraordinary sport, and in my opinion it’s fundamental athletic preparation for motorcycle pilots.
Every year I cover many kilometres and sometimes I’ll participate in a gran fondo.
I have lots of friends among the group of professionals and I’ve had the chance to go out and train with them, even if it’s not easy keeping their pace! And when my workload allows I try to go see the more important races like the Giro d’Italia or the Tour de France, where the atmosphere is fantastic.
