Expressions of condolence are being shared for Joseph Barry Wallace, the child of former MEP Mick Wallace who tragically passed away at just 30 years old.
A retired footballer for Wexford FC, previously known as Wexford Youths, Wallace’s demise occurred at Tallaght Hospital in Dublin last Thursday. Being a member of the four offspring of Mr. Wallace, he leaves behind his father, his mother Patricia Barry, a secondary school teacher, and his siblings. There was one other offspring from the union between Mr. Wallace and Ms. Barry.
Mr. Wallace has two other children from his first marriage to Mary Murphy. On Thursday evening, Wexford FC led the homage to the young lad expressing their heartbreak over the loss of former associate and Mick’s son, Joe Barry Wallace.
Adding on to that, the club extended its heartfelt sympathies to the Wallace family, all of his mates and fellow players, sadly bidding Joseph farewell. Local Independent TD Verona Murphy, who succeeded Mr. Wallace’s Dáil seat when he was elected into European office in 2019, also expressed her grief over the news of the death.
“My most sincere condolences to the Barry and Wallace families during this deeply painful time, and to all of his mates and club associates, we remember Joseph in our thoughts,” she said.
MEP Seán Kelly took to social media to express his shock over the tragic news, describing Joseph as a remarkably bright, gifted young individual. In his tribute, a family friend described Joseph as modest, a skilled footballer, who gave his all on and off the field, expressing sorrow that such a promising individual had passed on too early.
His vigil will be held in Dundrum, Dublin this coming Saturday, followed by a funeral ceremony at Mount Jerome Crematorium at 4 pm.
