Dear Editor,
In one of David McWilliams’ recent observations, he proclaims, “Should Trump triumph, being amiable and enjoyable company may not be sufficient” (“Trump’s possible victory might signal the closing of Ireland’s prosperity”, Commentary & Analysis, October 26th). It seems to me that the accurate colloquialism is “make the grade”, not “cut muster”. However, if Trump does indeed come to power, metaphorically speaking, we might find ourselves “delivering the goods”, rather than just making the grade. I trust this has not disturbed the tranquillity of the “sweet pie”. – Yours sincerely,
