“Train Band Founder Charlie Colin Dies”

Charlie Colin, a foundational member and bassist for the American pop-rock band Train, recognized for popular songs like Drops of Jupiter and Hey, Soul Sister, has tragically passed away at 58 years old. The report of his demise came from his mother, who confided to American media outlet TMZ that his passing followed an unfortunate fall in the shower while he was looking after a friend’s house in Brussels, Belgium. His sister later validated his demise to another media platform. The exact cause of death is yet to be clarified.

Train’s official Instagram page published a touching tribute saying “Upon meeting Charlie Colin, he immediately captured my heart. Exceptionally kind and incredibly attractive, it felt only fitting we create a band. His distinctive bass and elegant guitar skills did not go unnoticed in San Francisco and indeed further afield.”

“He will always hold a fond place in my heart. I continually tried to bring him closer, but he had his own dreams to follow. Charlie, you are a true legend. It’s your turn to captivate the angels now.”

Train, led by vocalist Patrick Monahan, emerged in San Francisco in the 1990s. Other well-received songs from the band include Meet Virginia and Drive By. Colin, an original member, was the band’s bassist. In an interview with Power Players With Dan Clark podcast in 2022, Colin mentioned that he “officially left Train in 2005”.
