“Top Six Irish Food Stalls Summer”

John Ward operates his seafood trailer, Dooncastle Seafood Trailer, in a secluded location beside the lake opposite Kylemore House in Connemara, Co Galway. Ward offers freshly cooked seafood and oysters, providing a few picnic benches for patrons who enjoy this picturesque spot.

Then there’s Julia’s Lobster Truck, stationed at Glencolumbkille House, Carron in Co Clare, run by Julia Hemingway. After training at Leith’s School of Food and Wine and gaining experience at The French House Dining Room in London, Hemingway relocated to Ireland as a private chef. During the summer season, she sells an array of seafood from her food truck, which includes delicacies like oysters, grilled fish, BBQ lobster and chips with mussels. Her location is subject to relocation and is updated on her Instagram profile.

In Co Galway, the Misunderstood Heron is operated by Kim Young and Reinaldo Seco. Located on the Killary Fjord’s periphery, with a South American culinary spin, their food truck has been recognised by Lonely Planet as a prime spot to experience great cuisine. The menu, which changes regularly, features lamb pasties with curry, baby potatoes with cream, chives and mackerel, langoustine curanto, and Killary Fjord mussels served in their homemade cholita sauce.

On 90 South Circular Road in Dublin 8, Mushroom Butcher, run by Australian Mark Senn and Lithuanian partner Ingrid Baceviciute, has earned reputation in their mission of growing mushrooms in a former retail unit under damp, dark conditions in Portobello. They operate their food truck every Saturday, offering an array of mushroom-based takeaway foods. Their menu differs weekly and includes flatbreads, tacos, sushi and their popular mushroom fillet roll served in a baguette. They also serve crème brûlée doughnuts, which is not to be missed if offered.

Snappy Snappy offers delectable bites from its popular food truck, perfect for a quick, satisfying meal while on the go.

Located in Dooneen, Letterfrack, County Galway, this food truck called the Snappy Snappy Crab offers two mouth-watering crab-based dishes. Customers can choose between freshly picked crab served on homemade Japanese-style milk buns, or alternatively on toasted sourdough. Each scrumptious meal costs €16.50 and comes with a variety of sauces and a side of green beans tossed in almond dressing. The truck provides outdoor seating for up to 70 guests on picnic benches facing the waterfront and the neighbouring grassy areas, all with ample parking facilities. Just across the road, foodies can find the Oifig an Fish, a recently opened laid-back eatery specialising in fish and seafood.

In an unexpected twist, there’s a food truck serving incredible Maharashtrian cuisine nestled at the back of Ryan’s Pub car park on 115 Haddington Road in Dublin 4. Known as Sumi’s Kitchen, this hidden gem established in 2023 has gained popularity among the local Indian community for its genuine, homecooked meals. Regular offerings include street food favourites like vada pan or onion bhajis, but it’s the regularly changing specials that truly tantalise. The rotating menu features delights like black pepper soya curry, fish thali or egg lababdar, all of which can be found on their Instagram account.
