Tom Sykes blazes into pole position at Assen

Tom Sykes decimated the field in today’s Superpole at Assen.
The Kawasaki rider who lead all the timesheets so far this Dutch weekend except for QP2 that went to Davide Giugliano, posted a stunning 1.
35.
0143 in SP3 that was virtually untouchable.
This is Sykes second consecutive pole position of the 2013 season and the 13th of his career.

Jonathan Rea will start his team’s home race in second place.
The Pata Honda who is multi race winner at Assen was able to put his CBR1000RR onto the front row with his last flying lap.
while Aprilia’s Eugene Laverty will close out the front row with his third position and he was 0.
771s from Sykes, but it looks like he has a decent race pace.
Sylvain Guintoli will have to defend his standings lead taking off from the second row and in fourth.
Kawasaki’s Loris Baz qualified fifth and he posted a better time with a fresh race tires on his last flying lap than he did with his qualifying tires.
Davide Giugliano made it into sixth with his bucking Aprilia RSV4.

Marco Melandri was able to move into SP3 and open the third row in 7th, but so far he hasn’t been able to solve his issues, while the biggest surprise of the Superpole was that BMW team mate and Aragon double winner Chaz Davies couldn’t get beyond SP1.
He ended up on the fifth row and in a lowly 13th spot.
Carlos Checa seemed to have lost an excellent last flying lap opportunity and he will start in 8th followed by struggling Red Devils Michel Fabrizio in 9th.
Closing out the top ten was Jules Cluzel while Ayrton Badovini after his horrible highside this morning was able to qualify 11th, despite a battered ankle and a swollen hand.
The Alstare team had to rebuild his Panigale after the crash with the spare rolling chassis that they keep in the back of their truck.
