Eat more fat
The best way to maintain proper brain function is to eat fats such as omega 3 and saturated fats. Eating fat also plays a key role in our cardiovascular health. Loss of sufficient saturated fatty acids in white blood cells damages their ability to recognize and destroy viruses, parasites and bacteria. Fat is necessary for calcium to be effectively absorbed into bone too. Certain saturated fats which are in products such as butter or coconut oil function as messengers in the body that affect our metabolism, and the release of insulin.
By including saturated fatty acids in our diet, we drastically reduce the stress reactions in the body, whereas polyunsaturated fatty acids amplify them. The right fats in your diet can also help you burn off excess body fat and make you feel more full after meals.
