“Times in Transition”

Dear Sir,

My sincere thanks for moving the Sudoku game, it cleared away unnecessary distractions when I was stumped by Crosaire. Yours faithfully, Hugh McDonnell of Glasnevin, Dublin 9.

Regarding Dublin 1’s association with the far-right and threats to a political leader’s life, it’s concerning that such issues appear to be overlooked by Ireland. Sarah Moss, a vegetarian feminist cyclist, anticipates that many may not align with her views.

The decision to eliminate this column, in my opinion, is a retrogressive move and is likely to be greatly missed by a good number of your avid readers. The columns, popularly read in our country and abroad, brought an aura of optimism and lucidity in a world overwhelmed by immense tragedy, bewilderment, and gloom. The degree of research and deep thought involved resulted in a profound and illuminating perspective on faith and society.

Significantly, the column provoked us to revisit, with renewed vigour, life’s challenges from a spiritual stance. My heartfelt appreciation goes out to all the column contributors. Yours sincerely, Rev Cecil Hyland from Skerries, Co Dublin.
