“Three Must-Watch Sports Events This Week”

Longing for that Olympic thrill? Fear not, the famous series of high-profile athletics activities, i.e., the Diamond League, is already on its way. This week’s schedule includes the 11th and 12th parts of the total 15-leg series. We’re kicking off with Athletissima in Luasanne where an ensemble of elites will gather. To give you an idea, all recent Olympic medal winners of men’s 400 metres, including Quincy Hall, Matthew Hudson-Smith and Muzala Samukonga, will be present. Following this, the grand extravaganza of the World Athletics will arrive at Poland’s Silesia. Tune in to the BBC & Virgin Media on Thursday.

Moving on to football, this Friday, Shelbourne will play against Bohemians at Tolka Park; two clubs with a stark difference in their current seasons. Shelbourne at present tops the Airtricity League Premier Division chart, leading Derry City by two points. Bohemians, on the other hand, are towards the lower half of the table, needing serious points to keep the distance from the relegation zone. Regardless, this match-up will be an adrenalin driven Dublin derby as always. Don’t forget to watch it on Virgin Media.

Switching gears to American football, the season opener of the US College Football season is set for Dublin this weekend where Georgia Tech will take on Florida State University. Last season, the Aviva Stadium was packed with approximately 49,000 spectators to watch Notre Dame best Navy. Similarly massive turnout is anticipated this Saturday.
