The UK’s summer flat racing season is set to reach its peak with the Newmarket July Festival kicking off this Thursday. The three-day event will feature a number of prestigious races which include the Falmouth Stakes, the July Cup, the July Stakes, and the Princess of Wales’ Stakes. The races will be broadcasted on UTV & Virgin Media from Thursday through to Saturday.

Football
In football news, the female squad of the Republic of Ireland faces a challenging Euro 2025 qualifying group. Pitted against three of the world’s top six teams, their journey so far has been tough, resulting in four losses. Despite the steep learning curve, it is hoped that this experience will be beneficial for the team. The squad’s strength will be put to test once again in Game Five; they play against the Euro 2022 champions, England, at Carrow Road, Norwich. The event will be covered by RTÉ & UTV this Friday.

Gaelic Football
Gaelic football fans will be looking forward to the action at Croke Park this weekend. Two major games have been scheduled for the All-Ireland senior football semi-finals. Adding onto the excitement, there’s also an important match between Down and Laois in the Tailteann Cup final. This second-tier competition, now in its third year, has been gaining popularity and is taken seriously by the teams competing. Catch the matches this Saturday on RTÉ.

Here are the highlights for the upcoming week:
Monday, 8th July – BBC 1/2 and Premier Sports 1 are broadcasting the tennis action from Wimbledon from 11am-9pm. The highlights from the GAA weekend will be available on TG4 from 8pm-9pm.
Tuesday, 9th July – The 10th stage of the Tour de France will be showcased on Eurosport 1, TG4, and ITV4. Wimbledon will continue on BBC 1/2 and Premier Sports 1. Rugby fans can tune into RugbyPass for the U20 World Cup featuring matches between Ireland and Australia, Argentina and Fiji, France and Wales, Georgia and Italy, New Zealand and Spain, and South Africa and England.

The upcoming sporting fixtures that will be shown across various broadcasters includes the 2nd Women’s T20 match between England and New Zealand on Sky Sports Cricket at 18:00. The LOITV will cover the Champions League’s 1st Qualifying Round match between Víkingur Reykjavík and Shamrock Rovers at 19.45. Furthermore, RTÉ 2 and BBC 1 will broadcast the Euro 2024 Semi-final Spain versus France bout, scheduled for an 8 pm start.

Moving on to Wednesday, the 10th of July, there is the Copa America Semi-final – Argentina versus Canada at 1 am, viewable on Premier Sports 1. Sky Sports Cricket will be featuring the 1st Test of D1 between England and West Indies, starting 10 am. Stage 11 of the Tour de France will air on Eurosport 1 from 10 am to 4.45 pm, ITV4 from 10.15 am to 4.30 pm, and TG4 from 11 am until 4.50 pm. Tennis enthusiasts can tune into BBC 1/2 or Premier Sports 1 to watch Wimbledon from 11 am to 9 pm.
