“Three Arrested for Galway Cannabis Houses”

In Co Galway, law enforcement officers have detained two males and one female over suspicion of operating two cannabis cultivation sites and possession of drugs priced over €300,000. The residential searches disclosed these illegal operations at New Inn and Creggs.

Officers made a recovery of cannabis plants and herbs valued at €228,000 and €75,000 respectively. Two males, one in his twenties and the other in his forties, along with a woman in her fifties, were apprehended during this coordinated operation. They are currently held at a police station in Co Galway under the guidelines of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

Personnel from Divisional Drug Unit, Galway County Drug Unit, the Armed Support Unit, and local police made up the operation team. The investigation continues as per reports from the law enforcement officials.

This search operation is a part of Operation Tara, a fresh and enhanced national scheme against drugs initiated in 2021. The purpose of this strategy is to cripple, disassemble, and legally prosecute the entire hierarchy involved in the illicit drugs trade – from importation to local selling.
