This Week’s Must-Watch Sports

This week, Leicester will be the host city for the World Grand Prix, the only televised darts competition where participants are required to both start and end each leg on a double or bullseye. Despite facing stiff competition from the likes of Luke Humphries and Michael Van Gerwen, Luke Littler is tipped to win the grand prize of £120,000. This week also marks the beginning of the group stage of the 2024-25 Uefa Women’s Champions League. The competition, though less hectic than its male counterpart, will see 16 teams – including Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City, and Celtic – split into four groups. The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals. The matches will be available for viewing on DAZN from Tuesday onwards.

In rugby, the upcoming URC clash between Leinster and Munster at Croke Park this weekend underscores the significance of these derby matches for loyal fans. The last meeting between the teams at this venue was in the unforgettable Heineken Cup Semi-final in 2009. This game will be broadcasted on RTÉ & Premier Sports on Saturday.

TNT Sports 1 will air the America’s Cup Sailing from 1pm to 3.30pm. Enjoy the Women’s T20 WC match between Australia and New Zealand at 3pm on Sky Sports Cricket. From 6pm to 11pm, Sky Sports+ will host Darts – World Grand Prix. Women’s Champions League soccer games – Celtic vs FC Twente and Chelsea vs Real Madrid – are scheduled at 8pm on DAZN.

On October 9th, tune in once more to Sky Sports Cricket for 1st Test, D3 Pakistan vs England from 5.50am. Eurosport 1 will broadcast Wuhan Open Snooker from 7am to 10am and 12.30pm to 3.30pm. Women’s T20 WC matches – South Africa vs Scotland at 11am and India vs Sri Lanka at 3pm – will be aired on Sky Sports Cricket. Catch America’s Cup Sailing on TNT Sports 2 from 1pm to 3.30pm. On DAZN, watch the Women’s Champions League soccer match – Bayern Munich vs Arsenal – at 5.45pm. Later, it’s Man City vs Barcelona at 8pm on both DAZN and TNT Sports 1. In the evening, Sky Sports Golf will be featuring the Open De France from 12.30pm-5.30pm, followed by the Black Desert Championship from 5.30pm-1am.

A range of sports events are lined up across different platforms. From noon till 4.30pm, open “De France” Golf is scheduled on Sky Sports Golf. A string of Rugby matches are set to be aired on Premier Sports and TNT Sports. Starting with Cardiff against Scarlets at 3pm on Premier Sports 1 and Benetton versus Sharks at the same time on Premier Sports 2, which will be followed by Edinburgh against Stormers at 5.15pm and Ospreys taking on Bulls at 7.35pm. TNT Sports 1 is also lined up for a 3.05pm Rugby match in English Premiership between Gloucester and Bath and later at 5.30pm, Leicester will be facing Northampton.

Soccer games to be televised includes Croatia against Scotland at 5pm and Spain playing Denmark at 7.45pm in the Nations League on Virgin Media Three. The final match of Women’s Premier Division on TG4 will be shown at 5pm. As for evening Rugby matches, they include Leinster taking on Munster at 5.45pm on RTÉ 2 & Premier Sports 1, and the Super League Grand final being aired on Sky Sports+ at 6pm. Ulster will be taking on Connacht in Rugby at 8pm on TG4 and Premier Sports 1. Also, at 8.15pm on RTÉ 2, a to-be-announced Club Championship GAA game is due.

Viewers can watch the Darts World Grand Prix from 9pm till 11.30pm on Sky Sports+. The Golf Black Desert Championship will be live on Sky Sports Golf from 10pm to 1am. Come October 13th, on Sunday, TNT Sports 1 will showcase the UFC fight, Brandon Royval versus Tatsuro Taira, right from midnight. Sky Sports Golf will broadcast LPGA from Shanghai from 6am till 9am. Finally, the Boxing match between Takuma Inoue and Seiya Tsutsumi will be accessible from 9am onwards on Sky Sports+.

The Arctic Open Finals will be aired live by TNT Sports 2, with the badminton matches beginning from 10 am until 2.15 pm. At 11 am, the Women’s T20 World Cup match between England and Scotland will be broadcasted by Sky Sports Cricket. Later, UTV & Virgin Media Three will showcase the Nations League soccer matches, with Finland vs England at 5 pm and Austria against Norway at 7.45 pm. Sky Sports NFL will present Week 6 of the NFL matches from 6 pm. Greece will contest Rep of Ireland on RTÉ 2 at 7.45 pm as part of the Nations League soccer matches.

Sky Sports+ will broadcast the World Grand Prix Final of darts from 8 pm to 10 pm. Rugby buffs can enjoy the match between Lyon and Stade Francais on Premier Sports 1 at 8.05 pm. Sky Sports Golf will air the Black Desert Championship from 10 pm until 1 am the next day. Finally, the NFL match between Bengals and Giants will be telecasted by Sky Sports NFL at 1.20 am.
