The verdancy of my valley was remarkable

In reference to a recent article by Mark Paul (News, March 2nd), he has claimed that the newly elected Labour MP Damien Egan – born in the Republic – is the first native to be selected for the House of Commons in Westminster within the last three decades. This statement disregards Dame Nia Griffith, originating from Dublin, who has served as the MP for Llanelli since 2005 and is a fellow member of the Labour Party. Yours Sincerely, Kevin O’Sullivan from Letterkenny, Co. Donegal.
