The United States predicts that Iran might launch an assault on Israel within the week

The US has expressed readiness for potential significant attacks in the Middle East by Iran or its allies as early as this week, according to White House national security spokesperson John Kirby. Speaking on Monday, Kirby noted the US has amplified its military presence in the region and resonates with fears in Israel about a likely Iran-sponsored attack. This follows accusations from Iran and Palestine’s Islamist organisation, Hamas, blaming Israel for orchestrating the murder of a Hamas leader in Tehran in the previous month.

Simultaneously, Iran’s foreign affairs department criticised the pleas for restraint towards Israel from France, Germany, and Britain, asserting on Tuesday, that such calls are illogical politically and conflicting with international law principles.

On Monday, these three European nations had called for Iran and its associates to withhold from launching attacks on Israel in response to the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the political leader of Hamas, in Tehran the previous month.

Israel remains accused by Tehran and its allies, Hamas and the Lebanese Shi’ite collective Hizbullah, for carrying out the assassination, though the Israeli administration has not accepted responsibility.

According to Kanaani, the E3 communique brazenly demands Iran not to react to the breach of its national sovereignty and territorial limits without condemning the crimes of Israel, also referred to as the Zionist regime. Kanaani added that Tehran is intent on countering Israel and urged Paris, Berlin and London to unequivocally object to the ongoing Gaza conflict and Israel’s propagation of war.
