The Solheim Cup of 2028 will be taking place at Valhalla

The 2028 Solheim Cup, a major golf tournament, is slated to take place at the Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, joining a prestigious list of venues that include The Greenbrier, Muirfield Village, and Gleneagles. These venues have all hosted was is recognised as the top two golfing tournaments, the Solheim Cup and the Ryder Cup.

Known for highlighting the prowess of female golfers from the Ladies European Tour (LET) and the LPGA Tour in the United States, the Solheim Cup occurs biennially. Major men’s tournaments such as the 2024 PGA Championship have been held at Valhalla before, but this marks the venue’s first major women’s competition. Valhalla was the battleground for the Ryder Cup back in 2008.

The precise dates for the 2028 tournament, which is the 21st edition of the Cup, have not yet been outlined. Club owner Jimmy Kirchdorfer expressed his delight at Valhalla being chosen as the host venue for the 2028 Solheim Cup, eagerly anticipating the return of international golf enthusiasts to the Kentucky-based club.

An important milestone is on the horizon as Kentucky will host its first women’s golfing event since 1974, the Solheim Cup. Looking forward, the 2024 edition of the Solheim Cup is to be held at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club, based in Gainesville, Virginia from September 13th to 15th. The teams will be led by Stacy Lewis for the US and Suzann Pettersen for Europe.

The 2026 Solheim Cup will take place at Bernardus Golf in Cromvoirt, Netherlands. After holding onto the Solheim Cup in 2023 following a tie, Europe secured consecutive victories in 2019 and 2021. Nevertheless, the US holds a 10-7-1 lead overall in the competition.
