The remains of an elderly woman, in her 80s, have been discovered in Nenagh, County Tipperary

An inquiry into the circumstances leading to the death of a elderly lady, whose body was discovered in a property in Nenagh, Co Tipperary, is taking place. After being notified of the episode at St Joseph’s Park just past noon on Sunday, Gardaí and emergency services promptly arrived. The female, in her eighth decade of life, was declared dead on site. Following this, her remains were transported to University Hospital Limerick.

The location was cordoned off for the Garda National Technical Bureau to perform a technical inspection and the coroner was informed. The findings from an autopsy done on Monday are kept confidential due to operational needs, whilst the investigation continues.

Management of the investigation has been handed over to a senior officer, and a dedicated incident room has been opened at the Nenagh Garda Station. Family support from a Garda liaison officer is being provided to the woman’s family.

An invitation to come forward has been issued by An Garda Síochána to any witnesses, especially those present in the St Joseph’s Park area of Nenagh, between 8pm on Saturday and midday on Sunday. They are also seeking any video evidence, including dash cam footage from drivers, created within these hours from the area.
