The Northern Island requires lesser guidance from the United States

“Dear Editor, – As an American with Irish roots, I am deeply invested in all the debates and struggles tied to the prospect of reunification. I staunchly believe its resolution should be left to the individuals in the Republic and Northern Ireland.

I am of the opinion that the US should focus on its own affairs, de-escalating its involvement via advice, proposals and suggestions.

The reality is that we are not residents of the island and hence, lack the ability to fully comprehend the daily conflicts that continue to segregate Northern Ireland citizens. Pay us no heed. – Kind regards,

JUDITH CONWAY,
