A tragic incident occurred in Monvoy, Tramore, Co Waterford late Friday evening. A male driver in his sixties, operating a minibus, sadly died as a result of a vehicular collision. The unfortunate incident took place around 6:20pm, with the minibus colliding with a car.
The car’s male driver was examined on the spot but didn’t necessitate immediate medical intervention at a hospital. It was indicated that both drivers were the only occupants of the respective vehicles at the time of the incident.
The local coroner has been informed of the incident according to a representative from Garda. It was also announced that a post-mortem examination is intended to be organised. The location of the unfortunate event remains closed off, with alternate routes provided for local traffic, whilst an investigation led by the Garda Forensic Collision Investigators is underway.
Garda is extending its plea to any individuals that might have observed the collision and urging them to step forward. The representative has also requested that anyone who may have recorded footage of the area at the time, such as dash-cam videos, to make it accessible to the investigating Gardaí.

This year’s Irish road death toll has now risen to 83, marking a seven-person increase when juxtaposed with the corresponding period in 2023. Out of those, drivers accounted for 32, passengers for 20, and pedestrians for 16. The balance is made up of motorcycles and cyclists, which reported ten and five fatalities respectively.
