The match between Portugal and Ireland

“Dear Editor, – I read Emer McLysaght’s frustrations regarding the significant disparity in the cost of a home in Portugal and a flat in Dublin (“Whenever I go overseas, I’m overwhelmed with the anxiety that Ireland is taking me for a ride”, Life, May 17th). The contrast between countryside and city living, however, is a factor to bear in mind. Furthermore, the lowest monthly wage in Portugal is €820. The grass certainly does seem greener. – Yours sincerely,
Bláthnaid Deeny,
Lifford,
County Donegal.”
