Two unsettling occurrences on board a United Airlines flight sparked a diversion to Dublin from its original course of Brussels to Newark, New York. The flight, which took off at 11:17 CEST from Brussels, pulled a U-turn just an hour into journey towards Dublin instead.
A reliable statement from the Dublin Airport Authority confirmed that the sudden change in flight path was due to reports of an unruly passenger and a potential health scare on board the aircraft. Following standard procedures, the Dublin Airport Operations, in partnership with Airport Police, made the necessary arrangements for the unscheduled landing of the flight. Upon arrival, emergency services including the local police (gardaí), the National Ambulance Service and Health Service Executive personnel were present.
The Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) further reassured that the incident did not disrupt airport operations and passengers travelling on Monday evening were advised to proceed with their plans as per usual.
