The hearing for Scottie Scheffler has been rescheduled for June

The accommodation for Scottie Scheffler’s legal proceeding has been deferred for nearly a fortnight, now set for Monday, June 3rd. The top-ranked global player was initially expected to appear before the court on Tuesday on charges stemming from his detention during the US PGA Championship at the Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville.

Based on several sources, Mike O’Connell, the Jefferson County Attorney, stated that despite his objections, the District Judge overseeing Mr Scheffler’s case agreed to the defence attorney’s request to postpone Mr Scheffler’s legal proceeding from May 21st to June 3 at 9 o’clock in the morning. He added, “Our office is still collating information pertaining to the case.”

The reigning Masters champion, Scheffler, was apprehended before his second round at the US PGA as he attempted to penetrate the traffic congestion at Valhalla caused by an earlier unrelated accident, where an unsuspecting male pedestrian lost his life after being hit by a shuttle bus.

The police report, filed by Detective Bryan Gillis, reveals that Scheffler’s vehicle was pulled over by Gillis who subsequently “tried to direct” the golfer. However, Scheffler allegedly defied the officer’s orders and “surged forward, causing Detective Gillis to topple.”

Scheffler is facing an array of charges including second-degree assault on a police officer, third-degree criminal damage, perilous driving, and flouting traffic commands from an officer managing traffic. Unverified news on Sunday indicated that the charges might be dismissed, echoing Scheffler’s lawyer’s sentiment that his client is poised to proceed with a trial if required.
