Renowned lead singer of Wolfe Tones, Brian Warfield, has launched a defamation lawsuit against RTÉ, with prominent libel lawyer Paul Tweed representing him at the High Court. The case was officially lodged on Tuesday. The band, famous for tracks such as Celtic Symphony, Irish Eyes, Grace, Streets of New York, and Let The People Sing, unveiled its retirement plans in November last year following a musical journey that covered almost 60 years. Originating from Dublin in 1964, the group made history in 2023 by pulling in the largest crowd ever seen at Electric Picnic’s Electric Arena, a highlight in the festival’s 19-year timeline.
