The exhilarating stalemate between Liverpool and Manchester City keeps the championship contention hanging in the balance

Premier League: Draw results in 1-1 conclusion for Liverpool vs Manchester City
Sunday’s Premier League sensation at Anfield ended in an exhilarating 1-1 tie, as Liverpool staved off defeat against Manchester City. With the penalty strike from Alexis Mac Allister in the second half, the home side managed to clinch a draw. Despite the outcome, Arsenal still comfortably sits on top of the rankings.

The ensuing 10-round scramble for the title sees Liverpool and the Gunners poised at par with 64 points each. Reigning champions Manchester City, who have yet to taste defeat in a staggering 21 consecutive rounds throughout all contests, fall one behind at 63. As a result of their Saturday triumph over Brentford with a 2-1 scoreline, Arsenal rose to be tournament’s leading contender.

The prospect of securing a second win at Anfield in nine visits for City’s manager Pep Guardiola seemed certain when John Stones detached from his guard to tap Kevin De Bruyne’s corner kick into the net from a short distance in the 23rd minute. Stones wildly celebrated with the crowd of visiting supporters.

However, the home crowd erupted in triumph as Mac Allister bypassed Ederson and sent the ball into the net from the penalty area, a mere 50 minutes into the game. This came after keeper Ederson committed a reckless penalty in the box that drew Nunez into the air.

Encouraged by the equalizer, Liverpool continued their offensive onslaught, with numerous near goal scenarios. Unexpectedly, Manchester City’s Jeremy Doku miss-hit the goalpost, leading the two top flight teams to settle for a repeat draw this season.
