The continuous ascendancy of Northern Ireland’s rappers, Kneecap, continues unabated

Kneecap, the rap duo from Belfast and Derry, has frequented headlines this past year for a variety of reasons; challenging the former UK government over an arts grant obstruction, leading a strike against South By Southwest by Irish artists due to the festival’s affiliation with US military and arms manufacturers. They also performed at Glastonbury and introduced their first film, ‘Kneecap’, on the back of their debut album, ‘Fine Art’. The movie is set to premiere globally after its successful stint at the acclaimed Sundance Film Festival.
The duo made quite the entrance at the festival in a jeep mimicking a PSNI vehicle.
Since well before Kneecap’s ascent to international stages, journalist Una Mullally has been chronicling their journey. Mullally believes their film will mark a significant milestone for Irish language, cinema and music. The host for this information is Bernice Harrison, with production by Aideen Finnegan.
